Whitney Elizabeth Houston, born 9 August 1963, to the musically inclined family of Newark New Jersey is the daughter of gospel star Cissy Houston and John Russell Houston Jr. Also, she is the sister of the singer Dionne Warwick. In Newark Whitney, she began singing in the church choir in the early years of her childhood. At the age 15 she accompanied her mother singing background vocals on Chaka's smash Im Every Woman from 1978. Then, she performed backing vocals to Jermaine Jackson and Lou Rawls as well as her mom.
